Putting a vehicle up for sale
Vehicle description
Before creating a new auction, make sure that you have as much information as possible about the vehicle: VIN (vehicle identification number), brand, model, year, mileage, etc. The more information you provide regarding the vehicle’s history, the smoother the transaction.
Pictures
Make sure you provide as many high quality pictures of the vehicle as possible.
CarFax
When listing a vehicle with a minimum reserve price of $3000.00, you must provide a CarFax report on the vehicle’s profile. This will give buyers a chance to review the online report of the vehicle’s history prior to placing a bid.Auction Fees
Additional fees will be applied once a sale is complete. Here's a breakdown of the Sell fees:
The “Blacklist”
If you had a negative experience with a particular buyer, you can add them to your Blacklist. By doing so, the buyer will no longer have visibility to your listed inventory and will no longer have access to bid during your online auctions. Any buyers placed on your blacklist can be removed at any time.Choosing your auction
The following are the different types of available auctions. When creating your auction page, take a minute to determine the best strategy pertaining to your units:
Standard auction
The buyer who places the highest bid that matches, or surpasses your minimum asking price wins.
Reserve price
When setting up a new auction, you can set a Reserve price. If your Reserve price is met by the end of the auction, the item will automatically be sold to the highest bidder. However, once an auction ends, if neither the reserve or original price has been met, TradeHelper will act as an intermediary between the highest bidder and the seller in order to reach an agreement within 72 business hours. This allows you the chance to decide whether or not to lower your price, while the buyer can review his maximum offer.
Auction length
Weekday auctions last 24 hours while weekend auctions last 72 hours. This does not apply to Blind Bids.
Blind Bids
A blind bid is a bid that is kept secret. Bidders have three chances to place the highest bid. A blind bid auction can last either 6, 12, 24 or 48 hours depending your on preferences.
Receiving offers and selling your vehicle
Sit back, enjoy the bidding war and wait until the auction ends. It's that simple!
Providing feedback
Once the transaction is complete, it is important to fill out the buyer's Feedback profile. You can leave a comment summing up the experience with the buyer along with a global rating: good, neutral or negative. Alternatively, you can complete an anonymous evaluation questionnaire where you can explain the transaction in greater details.

Searching for a vehicle
As with most websites, you can use the search function to specify vehicle criteria such as: Make, Model, Year, Price. With TradeHelper, you can also narrow your search to a specific date and time the vehicle was listed. Prior to bidding, you will be given the opportunity to review all the information you require relating to the vehicle and the seller allowing you to make an informed decision.
Placing a bid
TradeHelper is an online auction and like most auctions, the highest bid wins. Also, as with most auctions, every bid is considered a binding offer to purchase.
Therefore, before placing a bid, make certain to review all pertinent information including the length and type of auction. If there is a reserve price provided, that amount must be met in order to win the bid.
Auction length
Weekday auctions last 24 hours while weekend auctions last 72 hours.
Minimum offer
If the set price of a vehicle is less than one thousand dollars ($1,000.00), a minimum bid increment of $50 is required. As soon as the one thousand-dollar ($1,000.00) price level is reached, the minimum bid increment rises to $100 and when the ten thousand-dollar ($10,000.00) price level is reached, the minimum bid increment rises to $200.
Outbid
If you have been outbid, you have the opportunity to bid again, as many times as you choose until the auction ends. In order to be notified of every bid placed on the vehicle you’ve chosen, you must be placed on our mailing list and can do so in the Member section above. You will be granted the option to choose how you prefer to receive alerts, either through personalized emails and/or notifications.
Last-minute notifications
Whether you’re the highest bidder or not, you will receive a Last Minute Notification 15 minutes prior to the end of an auction. Last minute notifications allow bidders to make a final offer before the auction ends.
Max Bid
Every bidder is granted the option to set a Max Bid. Enabling the Max Bid option will alert the system to begin placing bids on your behalf until it reaches the maximum amount you’ve set; granting you the freedom to explore other listed units simultaneously.
Reserve price
The Reserve Price is set by the seller and is the lowest price the seller is willing to accept. Should bidding reach the reserve price, the unit will be sold to the highest bidder. However, once an auction ends, if the reserve price has not been met, TradeHelper will act as an intermediary between the highest bidder and the seller in order to reach an agreement within 48 business hours. This gives the seller a chance to lower his price, while the buyer can consider increasing his final bid.
Fees
With TradeHelper, there are no additional fees for bidding. However, there are fees for winning an auction. There's an additional $90,00 for a vehicle when the sold price is less than $1,000.00, a fee of $130.00 when the sold price is between $1,000.00 and $2,999.00, a fee of $150.00 when the sold price is between $3,000.00 and $4,999.00, a fee of $200.00 when the sold price is between $5,000.00 and $7,499.00, a fee of $210.00 when the sold price is between $7,500.00 and $9,999.00, a fee of $220.00 when the sold price is between $10,000.00 and $14,999.00, a fee of $235.00 when the sold price is between $15,000.00 and $19,999.00, a fee of $250.00 when the sold price is between $20,000.00 and $29,999.00 and a fee of $300.00 for a vehicle with the sold price of $30,000.00 or more. This fee must be paid to the seller; which is then given to TraderHelper by the seller once the transaction is complete.
The Blacklist
If you had a negative experience with a particular seller, you can add them to your Blacklist. By doing so, you will no longer receive sale notifications relating to that particular seller. Any sellers placed on your blacklist can be removed at any time
